Thanks Shannon, you beat me to it! Yes, I try to keep that CT Fiction site pretty up to date. As for NONfiction – much harder to do. There is just not a lot of nonfiction about the state that isn’t your “It’s My State” or other series book.

I DID just promise someone, however, to put together a list of what I can find – WHEN I return to the office (I’ll be out from April 1-16 and have a big program on the 18th, so after that!).

Taxing the Cows is a good one to start on! (Thanks Marybeth). And also in Glastonbury:

Everything From a Nail to a Coffin by Iris Van Rynbach (Orchard, 1991 – out of print)
Traces the ownership and development of a retail establishment in Glastonbury, Connecticut, thus reflecting life in the town between 1874 and the present.

Linda

Hi everyone,

I work at two elementary schools in West Haven and was recently informed that some of the classes will be working on projects relating to Connecticut history next year. To ensure that I have the resources they will need, I'm hoping that you all might suggest some good books (fiction and nonfiction) that would be appealing to 3rd and 4th grade students with a wide variety of reading abilities. For example, I would love to identify historical fiction that takes place in Connecticut as well as nonfiction books about the history of Connecticut and biographies about famous people from Connecticut. Really, anything and everything relating to Connecticut would be wonderful.

Thank you all in advance!
Ariel
