Good afternoon. Here at Nonnewaug we've adopted a learning commons model for the library. It is constantly busy (and never quiet). We identified the need for a quiet study in certain situations. We have a workroom off the library with a glass door and a window. We set up a small conference table in there and it functions as a quiet study area. Teachers have given small-group instruction in there, a student with a concussion took a test in there, and students have collaborated on group projects in there. The glass allows staff to supervise and the door gives people inside some quiet. We have a giant renovation coming and two of these"student study rooms" are planned for the new library; we have had much success with the first.

Subject: [CASL-L] quiet library
Just inquiring - does anyone have a quiet library where students come and work with only whispering or not talking? Like a college library atmosphere.
Appreciate any responses for feedback.
Thanks!
