[CASL-L] High School furniture

I've used Charlie Cohen at Creative Library Concepts for tables with wheels and chairs and high top cafe tables.
I've used DEMCO for a rug, couches and chairs for a small seating area and task chairs. The fabric has not withstood high school use. I selected 1 grade up from baseline for fabric quality.
It would be best to visit a spot - as the fabric swatches and chips are helpful, but don't give the whole picture.
I've also bought from Red Thread in East Hartford.
Most of the chairs that have any pegs in the bottom of the legs or glides for carpet don't hold up all that well. Tables with wheels seems to a necessity these days, but chairs with wheels raises concerns for horseplay in many places.
Here, most the furniture is vintage late 70s and it shows age. When everything is falling apart, some students just don't have much respect for the space. I've been able to replace about 1/3 of what was here, but only with funding from yearbook profits over the years.
Today, I was notified that we are on a soft freeze for the budget due to the uncertainty of the ECS from the state. Dark times.

Good morning, Jodie! We have couches that look just like the picture Todd L. posted. Ours do not have the round desks attached to them. The couches are surprisingly comfortable and easy to move. They have handles in the back and wheels for portability. I would recommend them. They came from Demco.
My suggestions for furniture would be (1) lightweight and (2) on wheels. I inherited tables with very light gray (almost white) tops. They are constantly dirty. Our school is undergoing a huge renovation. In addition to darker table tops, I am currently exploring the possibility of purchasing some powered furniture. There is a huge demand for electricity as students charge phones and Chromebooks while working.

Hi Jodie,
I don’t have any specific recommendations, but I will warn you away from purchasing armchairs that have an integrated desk like the one in the picture below. I have 4 of a similar style in my library and they have not withstood the test of time…and high school students. The desk is still intact but the pin assembly has worn down and they sag at an odd angle.

Hi Jodie,
I purchased Poang chairs from Ikea about 10 years ago and they are still going strong! I just have to replace the cushions every few years. They are affordable and durable.

A question for those of you at the high school level:
I'm in the market for comfortable/mobile furniture for my Media Center. Do you have any recommendations on what you feel works best for teenagers and what you have found they prefer? I have a limited budget, but I am looking to add pieces that help facilitate a collaborative learning environment.
Any vendors or products you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
