Hi Pia,I cannot recommend highly enough Lauren Tarshis, author of the I Survived series. She lives in Westport, so is fairly local. Not sure what she would charge, but she spoke with our 4th graders last year, and they were mesmerized. She's fabulous! Ted Scheu, the poet, has presented at our school, and he, too, is wonderful with the kids--so funny! They love his poems. Comes from VT. Again, not sure of his charge. A couple of years ago we had Tish Rabe, who writes for the Cat in the Hat Learning series. Bob's Furniture Stores subsidized her visit...and she brought (and signed!) books for every first and second grader! She's a singer and songwriter, in addition to being an author, and her presentation was delightful. Contact me if you'd like further information.... Anita Pfluger

Can you please suggest an author for an author visit who is located in New England and does not cost a fortune. I am looking for someone to address students in grades 2-5. I have contacted several already and found that they were either booked or too expensive. Thank you,
