[CASL-L] Budget Concerns Impact Library Program

Budget concerns in Southington may eliminate library positions districtwide next year. Three scenarios have been roughed in for forecasts of a $1 - 2- 3 million dollars shortfall. Projections indicate that $3 million additional dollars are needed to meet salary and benefits. A $1 million cut could eliminate a dozen non-certified; $2 may eliminate up to 38 FTE - including all library, reading and math specialists and more. A $3 may eliminate over 50 positions, one of which may be an administrative position and would completely reorganize art and music, tech ed and computer classes.


Presentations are being made to the Board of Finance this week, and many of the shortfalls are linked to funding.  This scenario will most likely be developing in other communities.
