Hello All: I am forwarded this from Silvia Norton at AASL. I am also attaching a document which lists what IMLS (& LSTA grants) have paid for in CT. If your rep has already signed, please thank them for their support. If you have family with reps in the states listed please contact them to have their rep sign on. This legislation is vital for our libraries in CT

Today is our last real day to get Representatives to sign the LSTA and IAL letters. In these final hours:

  * Please check whether your representative has signed on to the FY19 LSTA and IAL letters? You can find out here<http://www.ala.org/fundlibraries> (the FY18 history is available here too). Also, please check the state list below of the key Members we need to secure.
  * If the answer is no, please reach out (once again, if applicable) to your Member’s office TODAY? You can find the dollar amount and state<https://www.imls.gov/grants/grants-state/state-allotments> and further detailed information is available here<http://www.ala.org/takeaction>.

Talking points:

  * Ask for the staffer who handles education. (Leave a message if you don’t reach them.)
  * Give your name and say you are calling on behalf of their state library association (or else the American Library Association). If you are a constituent, say so.
  * Ask for the Representative’s support to protect library programs that the Trump Administration has proposed to eliminate.
  * Ask them to sign two Dear Appropriator letters.* (See the note below and adjust as needed.)
  * 1: The Library Services and Technology Act provides funding directly to their states libraries for programs that support education and employment. Ask them to sign the letter by Representative Grijalva (gree-HALL-vuh).
  * 2: Innovative Approaches to Literacy supports school libraries and helps kids get ready to learn. Ask them to sign the letter by Representative Bernice Johnson.
  * Ask them to sign on by COB Wednesday, TODAY.
  * If they ask for more information, give them the following contact info:

Kevin L. Maher
Deputy Director, Office of Government Relations
American Library Association
Washington Office
(202) 403-8236

  * Thank them for their support.
