Hello Connecticut Librarians, I am Samantha Lee from Enfield Public
Library, and I am the Connecticut Library Association Intellectual Freedom
Committee chair. You may have seen *communication*
<http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT04MTQwMTQwJnA9MSZ1PTEwOTE3MzQ4MTImbGk9NjA4MzI4MzE/index.html>
from the American Library Association about the importance of reporting
censorship challenges for 2018 and CLA is helping them get the word out.

Please take five minutes to report any challenges that your library or
institution has encountered in 2018 to the *ALA online challenge reporting
form
<http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT04MTQwMTQwJnA9MSZ1PTEwOTE3MzQ4MTImbGk9NjA4MzI4MzA/index.html>*
before Dec. 31, 2018. Here are 5 facts to remember:

   1. Anyone can report censorship incidents and challenges to library
   materials or services. You don’t have to be a librarian.
   2. Reports can be made confidentially and anonymously.
   3. Every report counts in determining the *Top Ten Challenged Books*
   <http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT04MTQwMTQwJnA9MSZ1PTEwOTE3MzQ4MTImbGk9NjA4MzI4MzI/index.html>
   for 2018.
   4. You can be an Intellectual Freedom Fighter even if you haven’t
   experienced a challenge by sharing this *message on twitter*
   <http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT04MTQwMTQwJnA9MSZ1PTEwOTE3MzQ4MTImbGk9NjA4MzI4MzM/index.html>
   .
   5. Article III of the *Library Bill of Rights
   <http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT04MTQwMTQwJnA9MSZ1PTEwOTE3MzQ4MTImbGk9NjA4MzI4MzQ/index.html>*
   states, “Libraries should challenge censorship in the fulfillment of their
   responsibility to provide information and enlightenment.”

This information is important for all of us!

Sincerely,

*Samantha Lee*
