Hi there!

If your school is a member of CAS, The Connecticut Association of Schools, you can apply for this grant awarding up to $5,000 for programs.
http://cas.casciac.org/?page_id=643

Other Makerspace funding:
4 Donors Choose projects for iPads, Keva planks, Rolyco straws, and three Dash robots.
2 SEEF Grants (Shelton Education Endowment Fund) for a two tiered grow light system and Legos

Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing your Stem Squad ideas! What a great idea. We are currently planning a Makerspace at our school too. What is the CAS grant?

Last year I was awarded a grant through CAS to run a STEM Squad after school program. The Stem Squad will be trained as experts in the makerspace and includes representatives in grades 1-4 from each classroom. I am in the process of creating the lessons and will make them available on my Google Site called Mrs. Yacawych's Toolkit. I have aligned my lessons with the NGSS and ISTE Standards.

Do you have a makerspace in your school library or in your school in general? Would you be willing to have a few visitors come and see how your space works and how you got started? We would ideally like to see examples from different levels so that we can approach it from a districtwide mindset.
