All:

Please read the message below regarding an opportunity to stand up for
libraries!

There is a list of representatives included in the email that are sitting
in on the committee meetings, if these Reps are from your area…would you be
interested in getting on the schedule to speak?

Kate from CLA is looking for school librarians to get on the schedule.

If one of the names listed below is from your area, and you would like to
speak, please let me know ASAP.

Thank you!

Barbara

The Governor will be submitting a budget on Feb 20th.

The Appropriations SubCommittee for Elementary and Secondary Education will
be holding hearings for the public on this part of the budget on Wednesday,
March 6th at 4:30.

Libraries should be prepared to testify. It will be a long evening.

It is important that Appropriations Committee members hear from libraries
now before the onslaught of calls that will result from broad cuts in all
areas of the proposed budget.

Each of the legislators listed below should be contacted by their library
or regional libraries this week or next week. Reaching out to libraries who
are in their towns and strongly urging them to contact these legislators
ASAP is very important.

Subcommittee members:

Senate Dems Abrams (Chair), Flexer, Kushner

Senate Republicans Somers

House Dems Rosario (Chair), Abercrombie, Candelaria, Currey, Gibson,
Johnson, Porter, Simms

House Republicans McCarty, Kokaruda, Cade, Bolinsky, Hall, Lavielle.

 Thank you.
