Hello all,
We don’t own the book that Lizanne mentions, but we do have a book we recently added to the collection about teaching media literacy:
Teaching media literacy / De Abreu, Belinha S. Chicago : ALA Neal-Schuman 2019
You can see it in our catalog, and if you log in, can place a hold it. It is currently available, but might not be for long! ☺

Hi Emma,

I have used the Teacher’s Guide to Media Literacy (Scheibe & Rogow) https://www.amazon.com/Teachers-Guide-Media-Literacy-Multimedia/dp/1412997585 as a resource. The kids loved the lesson on bias: Read The Lorax, then read The Truax https://www.woodfloors.org/truax.pdf I also used the Urban Legends and False Beliefs lesson. It was very visual and highly engaging. The book has links to power points, as well as other resources. Maybe the state library has a copy. If they don’t, they would buy it for sure.

Good luck and have fun,
Lizanne

Hello!

I am working on some lessons with 8th grade on evaluating sources, and I was wondering if anyone has lessons that they've done that they love and have been successful!

Thank you!

Emma
