Mine love choosing books to display (September 11th is their most recent), sharpen pencils, stock paper by computers, straighten up, wipe shelf markers, etc. ☺

They can help with ordering books - give them a certain amount and they help get to choose (with you as the final say). They look through catalogs and have ideas. Andy Plemmons has blogged about his process here: https://expectmiraculous.com/2018/12/07/2018-19-student-book-budget-first-steps/<https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fexpectmiraculous.com%2f2018%2f12%2f07%2f2018-19-student-book-budget-first-steps%2f&c=E,1,odYFgvHeQD3wMPke99dt_tF2broIVAIO0Lr0pkK6X8r84Zeg0Ubs07t0rt_VjJAtiOl6qzfjAy3J_d8AsUKzHwy_sNN7WZcjOodXQ7Dkiyuxs0FRXDhifnE,&typo=0>

Hi all,

This is my first year with 5th graders in the elementary school. Anyone have suggestions as to jobs to have them do? I've heard of some schools having them "adopt - a - shelf" to take care of it /check on it when they come to library. Any other ways I could be utilizing them? Or suggestions on anything in general?

Thanks!
Kirsten
