[CASL-L] System for tracking students?

We use a program called Identakid. It's a purchased program that synchs to
PowerSchool. We use our own ID badges that we print in house. We had to
purchase the swipe card system and touch screen monitors. Our IT
department worked with Identakid to complete the setup, install software,
etc. We had a few companies we looked at, but ultimately went with this
one due to the ease of working directly with PowerSchool. We used to spend
a lot of time hand entering student attendance - we have a large population
of students who use the LMC during open/study hall periods - anywhere from
30 to 90 at a time. We used to use Google Forms and then would still have
to enter the data into Power School student by student. This new program
removes that entire process.

We piloted the program, swiping, PowerSchool entries in the library last
spring. Once we worked out all the kinks, they bought the monitors and
swipe systems for our main entry this fall. Not only can it be used for
students with student IDs, you can also use a variation of it for licenses
- so with visitors to the school, they all now use the system and it checks
them against national lists and gives you alerts. It can also be set to
give an alert on parents you know have custody alerts, etc. They are now
planning on adding it to our nurse's office.
