[CASL-L] Library Clerks during Remote Learning...

Hi,

We have a directive from our principal. We created department-specific
Google Docs and he requested that my para and I touch base daily to work
collaboratively. We are finding distance learning resources for these
documents. We are also receiving some requests for assistance directly from
department members.

I think we both are feeling overwhelmed and struggle with the sheer amount
of resources that are out there. It is time-consuming to go through them in
an effort to provide quality suggestions that we think will be useful.
Additionally, we are trying to check each resource for its application to
each specific content area. Most importantly, we are trying to ensure that
anything that is directly being used by students or with students, for
example, ebooks, film resources, etc... are *copyright as well as student
data privacy compliant*. I have been trying to go the extra mile on this by
reaching out to vendors via phone calls and emails when I am uncertain
which takes extra time.

At first, I was definitely engaging in a bit too much clicking, quickly
glancing, copying and pasting in trying to find resources for a multitude
of different needs quickly. After a negligent misstep last week in which I
forwarded a video before viewing it in entirety, I reached out to my
principal about slowing down which was brought up at our leadership
meeting. Hopefully, this was not off-putting to department leaders. I know
our teachers must be feeling extremely overloaded during these uncharted
times. We are trying to support them in a timely manner, but are fearful of
rushing to judgment on recommending a resource. It is a balancing act to
accomplish both. My para is invaluable in assisting me in this process!!!
