Evening,
Starting Monday, our annual poetry contest for students (and if
teachers/staff would like to participate) will begin. I will be asking
students to submit their poems to my email. We are a small school; the 3
top poets receive a gift card. If it has been too difficult to choose the
top 3, I have asked English teachers to help with voting. The contest will
run until April 30th.

Last year, I created a March Madness Poetry and started with 16 poems(64
would have been way too many!)
I set up brackets on a wall and students and teachers/staff voted daily.
It was quite successful.

Popular High School poems from the past

   - "I wandered Lonely as a Cloud" by William Wordsworth
   - "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost
   - "Fire and Ice" by Robert Frost
   - "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost
   - "Ode to the West Wind" by Percy Bysshe Shelley
   - "If" by Rudyard Kipling
   - "To an Athlete Dying Young" by A. E. Housman
   - "A Red, Red Rose" by Robert Burns
   - "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allan Poe
   - "A Dream Within a Dream" by Edgar Allan Poe

Last year, *Crossing the Bar* By Alfred Lord Tennyson and *I Know Why The
Caged Bird Sings *By Maya Angelou were the finalists, the winner was
Crossing the Bar(students read this during Sophomore English and it was a
popular choice!)

Hope this helps, reach out if you'd like, I'd be happy to help!

Stay healthy and don't forget to laugh every now and again!
