Hi All,
Our HS is having Mindy McGinnis visit in the spring. Her books span several
genres including dystopia, suspense, realistic fiction, and historical
fiction. One of her recent books, *The Female of the Species
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AiLXqm6u-c>,* was a 2019 Nutmeg nominee
and was widely read and enjoyed by our students (and me). One caveat about
her work is that it deals with some intense subjects like consent and
addiction-- I believe this is one of the reasons that many of our students
like her work, but I understand that every school is different.

She has written several novels since 2019, and she has another one coming
out in February. Here's a list of her work
<https://www.mindymcginnis.com/young-adult-books> from her site. She does a
lot of author visits and writing workshops, and she is very personable.
Here's a recent virtual workshop
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cfy8r8hR98> she hosted in FL. Her books
have been used as whole-class texts in her home state of Ohio, and she has
a teaching toolkit <https://www.mindymcginnis.com/educators> for several.

She is charging me and another school $800 each for a full day virtual
visit (down from $1,000). If I can get more schools interested, she will
lower the price.

Let me know if you are interested and/or if you have any questions!

Best,
Monica
