The ACES Alternate Route to Certification for Library Media Specialists (ARCLMS), http://www.aces.org/arclms, is looking for current Connecticut school library media specialists willing to volunteer their time to assist program participants in completing field experience requirements.

If you are interested in volunteering during the 2021-22 school year, and are able to provide support in any of the two areas below, please fill out the form at this link: https://forms.gle/SdsWccd2gymBWBXp6

Volunteering could involve:

1. Hosting a program participant on-site in your school library

2. A 45-60 minute interview with program participants

If you or your school are unavailable to host a program participant on-site, we are asking if you might be available for an online interview with program participants. Interviews will be between 45-60 minutes, during which time participants would gather information in order to compare and contrast different library settings. These interviews will be recorded, but will only be used as evidence for program purposes.

During on-site field experiences, participants will actively engage in a variety of activities, which may include:

* Observe and assist with lessons, including opportunities to model and/or support the use of technology

* Examine and discuss curricular documents/resources

* Organize collections using specific cataloging and classification systems

* Review budgets, budgeting procedures and resource acquisition processes

* Review and discuss policies and practices that support the efficient and ethical use of information and information technology

*         Checking-in/out books

* Conducting book talks (both informal or formal with a class)

*         Conducting read-alouds

*         Assisting in research tasks

*         Troubleshooting technology issues

*         Co-teaching with the LMS

Program participants will reach out to volunteers directly to arrange the schedule.

If you are interested in volunteering during the 2021-22 school year, and are able to provide support in any of the areas above, please fill out the form at this link: https://forms.gle/SdsWccd2gymBWBXp6
