Hi Elaine - like Jane, I will have every class connect with an author or
another classroom from around the country or world if I'm lucky.

Shannon Miller's blog post
<https://vanmeterlibraryvoice.blogspot.com/2021/01/lets-celebrate-and-connect-for-world.html>
has
the links to connect with other educators
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FzAQov4NHNPswxyzPzEbNytsdENhQBkqXId-dul1n1A/edit>or
authors
<https://katemessner.com/virtual-author-visit-read-alouds-for-world-read-aloud-day-2021/#:~:text=WORLD%20READ%20ALOUD%20DAY%20IS%20FEBRUARY%203%2C%202021>
(on Kate Messner's site).

Authors will generally read aloud their own book or a favorite picture book
and then take questions.

When I connect with other classrooms, we select a book that is good for 2
voices (Elephant and Piggie, Interrupting Chicken and others) and then I
like to save time for the kids to ask each other questions. We always begin
by having a student(s) introduce our class (grade, school, town, state).

If I have a class that is older (grades 4+) connecting with my younger
students, they will often do the reading to my kids as opposed to the
librarians reading aloud.

Hope this helps a little!

I'd be glad to connect with you!

Jenny
