I just retired so I can’t invite you to visit but I had 2 Makerbots at high school library media but I have worked with elementary also. I took the Makerbot courses and they helped me a lot. I also used Tinkercad.

I had this book with activities from elementary up https://www.makerbot.com/stories/3d-printing-education/makerbot-in-the-classroom-a-resource-for-educators/?utm_medium=cpc <https://www.makerbot.com/stories/3d-printing-education/makerbot-in-the-classroom-a-resource-for-educators/?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Search_US_ALL_DSA&utm_adgroup=All_Pages&utm_content=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAys2MBhDOARIsAFf1D1ekyrPMw5d14_UJd361slSLRyF2ykvnVknyAAGpOzU82U4DXXs09KEaAlGxEALw_wcB> &utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Search_US_ALL_DSA&utm_adgroup=All_Pages&utm_content=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAys2MBhDOARIsAFf1D1ekyrPMw5d14_UJd361slSLRyF2ykvnVknyAAGpOzU82U4DXXs09KEaAlGxEALw_wcB

Kids can also learn about how the printer works first before they learn design on Tinkercad. There are pre-designed items a students can print available online.

Now that I am retired, I am restarting my storytelling business.

Subject: [CASL-L] Makerbot

Hi everyone,

My school district won a grant that provided our K-5 school library with a Makerbot 3D printer. I am a little bit panicked because I have never used a 3D printer. I have not been given any training, so I will be attempting to make sense of it during my limited prep time. Honestly, I feel like I am already just managing to stay afloat. Does anyone have words of wisdom regarding 3D printing at the elementary level? Does anyone have a Makerbot and a willingness to let me visit? I am trying to get excited about it and imagine some uses for it. Thanks in advance for any help!

Allison
