We are excited to host two guest presenters for this meeting who will focus on diversity and inclusion.
Kymberlee Powe
Kymberlee Powe is the Children and Young Adult Consultant with the Connecticut State Library's Middletown Library Service Center. She holds a B.A in Theater Arts from Western Connecticut State University and a Master's in Library and Information Science from Kent State University. Prior to her current position, she served as the Children's/Teen Librarian at the public libraries in Easton and West Haven. Currently, Kymberlee serves as the Chair of the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion section of the Connecticut Library Association.
Kymberlee will share her presentation entitled, Diversity AND Inclusion: How to audit your collection and Why.
Cindy Rodriguez
Cindy Rodriguez<https://cindylrodriguez.com/about/> is a middle school reading specialist and children's author. Before becoming a teacher she was an award-winning reporter for the Hartford Courant and researcher for The Boston Globe's Spotlight Team. She is also a founder of Latinxs in Kid Lit which celebrates children's and young adult literature by, for and/or about Latinxs. Her first YA novel, When Reason Breaks<https://cindylrodriguez.com/when-reason-breaks-2/when-reason-breaks/>, was published in 2015.
