DETAILS

The IMLS-funded project ONLINE READY invites you to a series of three free
webinars as it kicks off a three-year research project designed to
investigate two critical needs in school library research: a) a need to
design, test, evaluate, and share rigorous and impactful online pedagogy
techniques with practitioners; and b) a need to identify training models
that help practitioners infuse online teaching techniques with cultural
competence, a set of skills and abilities to effectively research,
understand, and connect with diverse learners. We define diversity broadly
in this proposal to include race (e.g., BIPOC: Black, Indigenous, People of
Color), ethnicity, gender identity (LBGTQIA+), socioeconomic strata,
learning abilities, language of origin, and geographical density, where
school librarians employ targeted strategies according to the unique
composition of their schools and communities.

Each webinar will feature a presentation, input from you to help us shape
future professional development, and a preview and invitation to apply to a
Summer 2022 virtual cohort to support K-12 librarians in developing more
robust, culturally-competent online pedagogy.

WEBINARS

*Culturally Responsive School Librarianship in a Virtual World  *

*Presenter: Amanda Jones*

School librarians stepped up to the plate to provide resources and programs

to COVID19. Learn how one librarian's changes led to more culturally
responsive online programming that can be used whether in-person, hybrid,
or virtual.

*Cultural Competences in School Librarianship: Building Awareness Within
Your Community*

*Monday, November 1*
*8 p.m. EST*
*Presenters: Erika Long and Amanda Jones*

Join the discussion as two school librarians share how they build awareness
around culturally responsive practices in their schools and communities and
navigate tough issues while making sure all students feel included in the
school library.

*Addressing Cultural Competency: A Tale Told from Two District Perspectives*

*Monday, November 8*
*8 p.m. EST*
*Presenters: Rachel Altobelli and Becky Calzada*

In this webinar, district school library administrators will discuss how
they have promoted and implemented culturally competent practices within
