April 27-28, 2022
Save the date for the fourth annual Rural Child Hunger Summit- a two-day virtual event, to be held over Zoom on April 27-28, 2022.
The Rural Child Hunger Summit will highlight best practices to address rural child hunger and convene partners to collaborate on innovative solutions. Sessions will focus on unpacking the latest research, promising policy solutions, and the role of schools, community-based organizations, and local leaders as partners in the fight to end hunger in rural communities.
The event will be co-presented by Save the Children and No Kid Hungry.


The Rural Child Hunger Summit agenda is coming soon!
This year's summit is filled with sessions covering advocacy, youth empowerment, sustainability, technology and innovation, and overcoming supply chain challenges. Speakers include the Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, Food Nutrition Directors from 8 different states, Sara Bleich and Stacy Dean from the USDA, and expert staff from Save the Children and No Kid Hungry.

Applications can come from a single organization or any lead organization representing a partnership effort. Funding can be applied to new and/or existing programs.

This project seeks to identify, document, and better understand promising practices within rural communities that achieve any of the following outcomes:  

  *   Increase food security among rural children
  *   Increase participation in one or more of the federal Child Nutrition Programs
  *   Decrease stigma associated with accessing federal Child Nutrition Programs and/or additional food assistance resources
  *   Promoting and supporting enrollment of SNAP, WIC, and/or Pandemic - EBT programs as well as the Child Tax Credit.
  *   Broad-based community engagement to understand and address community needs related to child food security and sustain partnerships to support meaningful interventions over time.
Grant requests will be considered for amounts up to $50,000 with a minimum grant amount of $10,000.
