Watch for a booklist coming out this year from CALA (Chinese-American Library Association).  I'm part of the task force.
I'd be happy to share the past two years of titles I've put together featuring "diversity" for my Bureau of Education & Research handbooks.  Which "diverse" groups are we looking at?  I get to the point in my seminar I call the "diversity" genre, turn to the participants, and say, "Have you seen the titles I've already talked about?  Pretty much ALL of them are "diverse" in one way or another, right?"  Spend 17 years in a school as diverse as Brien McMahon in Norwalk, you've found some very diverse books for those kids.
Also, I'm teaching a grad. course this summer on "Ethnicity in Children's and Adolescent Books," which I'm tweaking slightly to cover all aspects of diversity (disabilities, LGBTQ+, etc.).  I can send along the books I'm asking the students read.
I'll pass along what I've got.  I can also send a link to my Google.doc of book discussion question/lesson plan pages for those books.

Yes! I'm looking for books to support this new course as well. Maybe we should just start a list!I've also been working on a site to help students find diverse voices in literature (mainly fiction right now). It's just in the construction phase, but I'd welcome any input.https://sites.google.com/granbyschools.org/diversereads/home

Good Afternoon,
I was wondering if any high school LMSs have received requests for titles to support this new state mandated electives course for next year?  I'm trying to put together a book list and was wondering what other HS teachers are looking to include (independent reading, reference, etc.).
Thank you,Jodie
