[CASL-L] alternative read

Greetings,

Can anyone make recommendations for alternatives to *The Adventures of Huck
Finn*?  Looking for diverse texts and authors that would address the
experiences of slavery in America that are appropriate for 9-10th graders.

I have a couple titles in mind but I figured I'd ask my fellow CASL experts.
