As a little girl, Teresa started playing the piano in her home country of
Venezuela. She moved with her family to the United States during the Civil
War where she used music to bring hope to people, even President Abraham
Lincoln, earning the nickname “Piano Girl”. Evocative imagery in the
writing paired with Lopez’s gorgeous, colorful illustrations make this a
