Hi Sara,

We just started using it and I also insisted that we keep using Library Trac for study hall. I highly recommend you keep that if you can, as it is much easier to keep track of who is in your library.

The only way that I think you can set your own times as being "closed" or "open" is if you are given administrative access. I do not have that access, but teachers can see if we have spots open or not on Library Trac.

Once we got the hang of it, it's been working out fine. Our kids get 10 minute passes for most trips. It does help us keep track of who has left for bathroom, guidance, etc.

If you have any more questions, just let me know!

-Kara

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [CASL-L] Smart Pass program in high school library

CAUTION: This Email is from an EXTERNAL source. Ensure you trust this sender before clicking on any links or attachments.
My school is about to adapt Smart Pass for the building. Does anyone else use it?
I want to be prepared before I ask for settings that will work for me.
1. I am closed for a portion of the lunch period. It changes depending on regular, advisory, early dismissal, late arrival. Can I set that?
2. how long do people set passes up for?
3. I have no secretary and teach some periods in the back, so I can't have settings require that I approve requests. Student volunteers sit at circulation but I wouldn't want them with access.
4. I'm going to insist on continuing with Library Trac for study hall visitors. Hoping no one thinks it's redundant. LOL
5. General thoughts? Looks like a headache.
TIA!
Sara
