I have a super small reference section at Rumsey (PreK - 9th). We have a
very old set of encyclopedias really just for the visual. Helps to explain
what a database is. I sometimes have my 2nd grade use a physical atlas and
then use Google Earth on the iPads. I always love hearing them compare the
two and why they prefer one over the other. I also have them use physical
dictionaries.
Coincidentally, an Upper School teacher came in last week looking for two
dictionaries (exactly the same). Had them! He used them for a color game
contest during Morning Meeting. Very entertaining watching middle school
kids try to find words in a dictionary for color points!
