[CASL-L] Genrefy- High Sch

I will echo everyone else. We genrefied our fiction at both the middle
school and high school last year. We first ran a report through Titlewave
and found about 15 genres that we could sort all of the fiction collection
into. We purchased genre spine stickers from Demco and genre signs. We used
Titlewave and Goodreads to find a genre for each book. We then went
one-by-one and added/updated the 655 tag in the MARC record and added the
book to a sublocation in Destiny. The sublocation was one of the 15 genres.
We started alphabetically and put the books back in their original location
once we edited the record in Destiny. Once every book was catalogued by
genre, I coordinated with the main office at each school and we used AP
testing days to pull the books and put them back on the shelves by genre.
We are fortunate because our middle school and high school are connected so
I was able to shift my two assistants at each school to help out the other
school when needed when moving the books. It took us about 2/3 of the
school year. We started in December and finished in June during the last
week of school. The actual moving of each book took about two weeks. Feel
free to reach out if you need any help!
