Hello Everyone:

Applications are now open for summer teacher institutes at The Library of Congress.

I've done two and they were both great. The staff are excellent and the stuff is authentic (the LOC collection is hard to beat).

Hello!

I hope this email finds you well. My name is Celia Roskin, and I work in the Professional Learning and Outreach Initiatives office at the Library of Congress. According to our records, you have attended a Library of Congress Summer Teacher Institute within the past five years. Hopefully, you have fond memories of your time with us here in Washington, DC! More importantly, I hope you went home with useful and lasting teaching strategies that you could share with your students and your colleagues.

You can help more teachers access the same opportunities for learning and discovery that you experienced! The 2025 Summer Teacher Institutes<https://www.loc.gov/programs/teachers/professional-development/teacher-Institute/?loclr=blogtea> applications are now open through January 31st. We would greatly appreciate it if you could help us spread the word to your friends, colleagues, professional networks, etc.!
Here are the details (feel free to copy and paste) . . .
Now through January 31, 2025, the Library is accepting applications for its three-day summer institutes<https://www.loc.gov/programs/teachers/professional-development/teacher-Institute/?loclr=blogtea> for educators. Held at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., this professional development opportunity provides educators of all disciplines with resources and strategies to effectively integrate primary sources into K-12 classroom teaching. Each session will focus on pedagogy, with an emphasis on supporting student engagement, critical thinking, and construction of knowledge.
While practicing these teaching strategies, attendees will explore some of the millions of digitized historical artifacts and documents available in the Library's collections. They will also conduct research to identify primary sources and develop an activity related to their classroom content.
This summer, two sessions will be offered:

*       July 9-11, 2025

*       July 16-18, 2025

Thank you so much! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Best,

Celia
