[CASL-L] CD legality

Hi Folks,
I am considering weeding our CD library since they are an outdated
technology that no one is using in our school.  However, a teacher
suggested that I "rip" them and store them digitally.  Does anyone know
whether or not that would be legal?  I'd love to hear your feedback.
