Good morning, everyone.
Of interest to those of us in the education technology community, there is proposed legislation to establish a policy governing the use of cell phones:
https://cga.ct.gov/asp/cgabillstatus/cgabillstatus.asp?selBillType=Bill&which_year=2024&bill_num=14
Starting on line 71 on page 3<https://www.cga.ct.gov/2024/TOB/S/PDF/2024SB-00014-R00-SB.PDF#page=3> of the proposed law is a description of the steps the law would ask the State Board of Education to take in developing a model policy. As context, the Governor, Attorney General Tong, and Education Commissioner Russell-Tucker visited Manchester yesterday to discuss the practices in that district.
If this has interest, feel free to weigh in with your thoughts at https://www.cga.ct.gov/aspx/CGATestimonySub/CGAtestimonysubmission.aspx?comm_code=ed. There may also be an opportunity to provide your point of view in person if a public hearing takes place.
Regards,
Doug
