Hi Sarah -
In my district, I am a teacher. Therefore, per our contract, I get 1 45
min. planning period per day (5x per week).
4 days a week, I have a 45 min. block which I put in my schedule as library
administration tasks.
Because of our schedules, there are other chunks of time, usually 15 min or
so, that I also use for library tasks.
I do not have an aide.
Things I do for teachers: provide professional development in
technology/inquiry/media literacy/news literacy/information literacy,
co-teach and collaborate, curate resources (both print & digital - such as
creating choice boards, find and share events that support curriculum
(virtual author visit opportunities (BookBreak, Storyvoice, etc),
connections with scientists or other (in-person and virtual), highlight new
books, books that support curricular studies, months (Hispanic heritage,
etc.), holidays, fix technology, write grants with, participate on
district-wide committees, including curriculum writing, provide/support
makerspace activities, support play-based learning, support IEPs, 504s,
behavior plans, promotes a culture of reading school-wide, champions
equity, models digital citizenship and provides support and professional
development for it as well, help manage ClassLink, maintain chromebooks and
other devices.
I'm sure there is more . . . I can add. Please reach out with questions.
