Library Advocates,
After the election... What next? Mark your calendar for ACT4SL’s upcoming *Zoom
on **Tuesday, Nov. 12th **from 7-8 pm EST*. We will explore messages that
connect with elected officials at the local, state, or national level. We
will begin making plans to create messages that connect with returning and
newly elected officials.
This event features Matriot’s CEO, Emily Quick Schriver, along with
NJASL’s Mary Moyer-Stubbs, Tricina Strong-Beebe, and ACT4SL’s Deb Logan.

*November’s presenters include:*
*Emily Quick Schriver* is the Chief Executive Officer of The Matriots. As
CEO, Emily leads the organization’s mission to elect more Ohio women to
public office who will promote a healthy economy in which women can thrive
and prosper. In this role, she partners across the state with engaged
Ohioans seeking to increase representation.
Emily joined The Matriots in 2021, following a career as a lawyer
representing institutions of higher education on issues of public policy
and regulatory compliance. Most recently, she was an attorney in the
Office of Legal Affairs at Ohio State University, and before that, she was
a Washington, D.C.-based associate at the international law firm Hogan
Lovells US, LLP.
Emily holds a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University Pritzker School of
Law in Chicago and a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University.
Raised in central Ohio, she now lives in the Columbus area with her
husband, three daughters, and a devoted dog.
*Mary Moyer-Stubbs* is NJASL’s legislative consultant. Mary has continued
experience monitoring legislative issues related to school libraries. Ms.
Moyer-Stubbs has led legislative initiatives in New Jersey, leading the
passing of NJ's first in the nation, Information Literacy bill and the
recent Freedom to Read bill. Mary works with various agencies such as the
Department of Education and NJ State Board of Education on issues related
to the impact on school libraries and school library media specialists.
*Tricina Strong-Beebe *is NJASL’s advocacy chair. Tricina served as the
United States Ambassador for School Librarians (Sweden, Fall 2024) and was
awarded the 2021 New Jersey Association of School Librarians' President
Award. Ms. Strong-Beebe has almost 20 years of experience working for
public, school, and academic libraries. She has helped form NJ's Regional
Response Team (RRT) and assisted in advocating for the passing of
successful "pro-library" legislative bills in NJ.
*Deb Logan*
A former OELMA president, Deb Logan has served as chair or co-chair
advocacy committees at the state and national levels for thirteen years and
her extensive work on state and national legislative and advocacy projects
and committees, spans twenty-four years. Logan has written and presented
extensively on the subject of advocacy.
