Good afternoon,
Our district will be moving from K-3, 4-5 school model to K-5 models so we
will be merging collections and opening two K-5 libraries.
If you currently work in a school with that model, could you give us some
information about the following?
Are all K-5 classes fixed or flexibly scheduled? If so, how?
What are your circulation parameters? How long do books go out? How many
at a time? Different for different grades?
Is the library open for students to visit throughout the school day to
return and check out a book?
Do you separate collections? Older/younger? If so, how do you
delineate or categorize the different collections? YA books? Upper
elementary? Is nonfiction all together or in separate collections for
older and younger?
Thank you for your input!
