Hi All,
I agree completely, Melissa!  I'm retired now, but have been judging since the early years of the competition in CT.  I find that being a teaching librarian is a huge advantage in judging.  Not only are we used to source verification, identifying student voice, citation, etc. etc.  We are also experienced in providing students with well-constructed, useful feedback in a positive, affirming manner.  We have a lot to offer as judges!
I hope others will volunteer - and have a great day at the competition!
Best regards,Ava

 Hello all!
NHD is in desperate need of judges for the state competition on May 3rd.  I am forwarding the email I received from Rebecca. I have judged before and it's a cool experience!

How it Works:

   - All judges will receive pre-contest training and materials to review.

   - Judges work in teams of 2-3, with an experienced judge serving as captain.

   - Judges meet students, review and rank projects, and provide critical feedback to every participant.

   - Website and paper judges meet with students on contest day, but review projects in the week prior to the event. Documentary, performance and exhibit judges both view the project and meet with the students at the contest

   - First Round Contest judging lasts from 8:00 a.m. until mid-afternoon with breakfast and lunch provided.

   - The top two projects in each category will be invited to represent Connecticut at the National History Contest. Special prizes will be extended to an additional 20 prizes projects worthy of recognition.

   - Runoff Judges arrive between noon and 12:30 p.m. to view the top projects from the First Round. They will view 4 projects and together rank the projects and compule brief evaluation forms.
