Hi everyone,
I was wondering what lessons you teach to get the students ready to look
for books on their own? I work in a K-3 school so I mostly do these lessons
with 2nd and 3rd. Here is what I normally do:
1) Lessons about alphabetical order, explain that books are alphabetical by
author's last name, have students practice putting words in alphabetical
order.
2) Library scavenger hunt where students identify the different sections of
the library
3) Lessons where I show students what call numbers look like, I give them
flashcards with call numbers and have them bring me a book with the
matching info.
4) Lessons teaching the students how to search Destiny and write down call
numbers.
Does anyone have any lesson suggestions?
What do you do?
Thank you!
-Michelle
