Each year, the event, which is designed for adults, features luminaries
from the children’s literature community. Authors and illustrators will
take part in three panel discussions at this year’s program. Astrid
Lindgren Memorial Award Winner (the defacto Nobel Prize for Children's
Literature) Laurie Halse Anderson (*Rebelliion 1776*, *Speak*) will
keynote.

The event takes place in our 112th Street Tabas Auditorium. At the same
time, our partner KidLit TV will livestream the event to registrants
outside of the New York metropolitan area as well as to those who prefer to
attend remotely.

This year, BookFest will feature three separate discussions. Panels will
include a conversation with the wonderful Sonia Manzano aka Maria of Sesame
Street and author of the award winning *Alma *series and Carlos Hernandez,
Pura Belpré winner for *Sal and Gabi Break the Universe*.  A second panel
will include friends and mentors: CJ Esperanza, Winsome Bingham, Jason
Griffin, Traci Todd and Eric Velasquez.  Newbery Honoree, Lesa Cline
Ransome moderates.  A final panel will focus on series books and will
include: Adam Gidwitz, Debbi Michiko Florence, Karina Yan Glaser, Mika
Song, Olugbemisola Rhuday Perkovich and will be moderated by Emma Otheguy.


A book signing, with works provided by Books of Wonder, will take place
after the live event.

Teachers, you may be able to use your BookFest attendance to acquire
professional development credits.  Upon request, registrants will receive a
certificate of participation.
