 I also used the AASL Calendar.  Great opportunities to showcase the diverse backgrounds represented by students and staff! (And formats, now:  there is an audiobook month!). Think about a year-long bingo card.
There are also lesser-known, non-ALA celebrations like Media Literacy Week--all kinds of programming ideas there!

I haven't set up a calendar; however, I often use AASL's School Library Promotional Events webpage to help decide which activities can happen in the library throughout the year.

For example, September is library card sign up month. Our public library has a bingo sheet with reading and library card activities. We would encourage all students and staff members to take part in this.

Does anyone set up a 10 month plan of reading activities and/or challenges? If so, I'd love to hear how it works and what you think about it. How well is it received by students and staff?
