[CASL-L] book recommendations

 "From the Desk of Zoe Washington" by Janae Marks is about a 12-year-old girl whose father is on Death Row.  
"Monster" by Walter Dean Myers is an oldie but a goodie that fits this theme.
It might be a bit mature for 8th grade, but "Accountable" by Dashka Slater is the true account of a kid in a small town in California who start an offensive, misogynistic, racist private social media site that leads to lots of lawsuits.
