The goal of this unique event is to strengthen collaboration among Connecticut high schools and higher education institutions in order to facilitate smooth transitions for students moving through their educational journey.

High school librarians: Attend this event - and bring along one or two teachers and/or administrators - to help foster a deeper understanding of how school librarians play a critical role in supporting students’ transition from high school to college.

Academic librarians: Attend this event to share perspectives on gaps in student readiness for college-level research, critical thinking, and independent learning, and to hear from K-12 librarians and current college students about their experiences.

CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
MINI WORKSHOPS:
Digital Resources, Information Literacy, Primary Sources
These workshops are designed to foster conversations between academic librarians and high school educators, helping both groups learn from each other and support student success in transitioning to college or careers.

PANEL SESSIONS:
College Student Panel: Current college students will share their experiences with research assignments and using school and academic libraries. Panelists will share successes, challenges, and gaps in preparation, offering insight into what they wish they had known before college or grad school and how educators and librarians can better support student readiness.
K-12 School Librarian Panel: School librarians will share realities of their work, addressing daily responsibilities, collaboration, challenges, advocacy, and emerging trends. Hear about the evolving role of school libraries as instructional, community, and intellectual freedom spaces.

PUTTING INTO PRACTICE SESSION:
High school participants will work in small groups with academic librarians to enhance a current research assignment or develop a new idea through peer feedback. Develop your essential question(s), research skills, resources, process, and final product. High school attendees, please bring a current or planned assignment
