Subject: [ya-yaac] Please take our survey for a Graphic Novel and Comics Roundtable!

Hello all!

Robin Brenner here, representing the Graphic Novel Member Interest Group in our mission to transition from a Member Interest Group to a Roundtable.

Our survey will finish April 30, so we'd love to get as many responses as possible to ensure we move forward in keeping with what our members (and potential members) want and need from a Roundtable.

To give you a sense of what this transition would mean, becoming a Roundtable would allow us to:
  • develop new graphic novel lists and awards
  • build collaborations with local partners (comic book stores, nonprofits, schools)
  • work to advocate for the format with publishers and creators
  • mentor new library staff in building, maintaining, and displaying graphic novel and comics collections
  • advocate for better representation and metadata for our collections
  • provide resources for wrangling graphic novel and comics-related events
  • provide templates and examples for marketing and publicity for graphic novel and comics events and collections
  • present on panels at comic book events (like NYCC, SDCC)
  • provide outreach at the comic book events (like C2E2, ECCC)
We want to make the shift from Member Interest Group to a Roundtable smoothly and with evident support.

You do not have to be an ALA member to take the survey.

Thanks!
