Hi,
Here is a question for the HS folks. We use a school-wide rubric for literacy that covers reading comprehension of ideas shown via the student's interpretation of the material; writing for mechanics, the claim, sentence structure, word choice and overall tone; as well as analysis to evaluate the use of text evidence. However, we do not have research writing guidelines for departments other than English to use. As a result, I find there is great inconsistency in what students are being taught about analytical, expository and argumentative writing. Is this something that is prevalent in other districts? Does anyone have any guidelines that are given to their HS content area departments to use when these teachers are assigning written tasks? Thanks in advance for your assistance with this.
