Hi everyone,
I received this email at home yesterday, but wasn’t sure what to make of it.
Has anyone else received it, and if so, what do you know about the organization and this program?
I know of at least one CASL Board member who said she received it too. She thought that she (and I) were put on a list having signed up for webinars, etc. in the past.
While it seems interesting, I'm a little wary of what exactly you'd be committing to if you signed up.
I, like everyone, get enough solicitations as it is.
If signing up for this adds to that, I'm not so sure I'd pursue it.
Thanks
Chris

Dear Chris,
The Alliance for Excellent Education (All4Ed) and Future Ready Schools® (FRS) is pleased to announce MatchK12™, an exciting new project designed to connect high school leaders with the people, resources, and support needed to succeed in achieving their vision for student learning in the context of school modernization and improvement. As part of the effort, All4Ed and FRS invite you to join the MatchK12 Mentorship program.
To create MatchK12, All4Ed and FRS worked with the National Center for Restructuring Education, Schools & Teaching (NCREST) at Columbia University to identify the following key elements of school modernization:

  1. Supportive leadership
  2. Productive school culture
  3. Curriculum programming and design
  4. Professional learning tools, policies, and support
  5. Data collection, analysis, and use for continuous improvement
  6. Community, parent, and student involvement
  7. Authority and flexibility for sustainability and adaptation

All4Ed and FRS then engaged with several trusted practitioners at multiple levels in education to brainstorm high-leverage strategies for implementation that support each element. All4Ed will use key elements and strategies as the basis for matching high school leaders to the appropriate mentors who are currently involved with practice, research, articles and papers, implementation guidance, as well as fee-for service providers who will support progress toward school modernization.
You are Invited to Join the MatchK12 Mentorship Program
Matching high school leaders with people who can properly advise and guide them through school modernization requires identifying qualified practitioners, or MatchK12 Mentors. Because of your work with FRS, please consider becoming a MatchK12 Mentor and share your knowledge with district and school leaders who have identified specific need(s) aligned with your area of expertise. This is a terrific way to gain national recognition and stay involved by supporting educators like you who see the need for innovation in education but may need some support gettting there. All4Ed continuously seeks ways for MatchK12 and FRS users to remain connected, share, and provide feedback through meaningful and non-invasive methods and activities.
MatchK12 Mentor Expectations
Knowing that district and school leaders have all-consuming, full-time careers, the commitment of your time and level of involvement is at each mentor’s discretion. Therefore, the time commitment to be a mentor is minimal, and the frequency, volume, and complexity of mentee requests will not be burdensome.
All4Ed will secure at least three mentors within each strategy to ensure that mentees (1) have a choice of mentor(s) and (2) get timely feedback and customized help. The asset appraisal survey will specify the user’s needs among the elements and strategies described above, and mentee support will be in the form of a short phone call, a few emails, or some light virtual collaboration.

Please note, although MatchK12 is designed to be an active, authentic network of innovative educators, the MatchK12 Mentorship program is designed to help school leaders “get started” or secure a few “quick wins” on a specific challenge they are facing. It is not designed for ongoing professional development or free consulting services.
Sign Up Today!
Complete the application no later than May 11 to be included as a MatchK12 Mentor in the initial pilot program. Also please consider nominating other leaders in your district and more importantly, nominate exemplary high school principals who might be willing to offer their help.
