**Apologies for the Cross-Posting**
We're building a new grade 6 Folktales/Myths/Fairy Tales & Short Stories unit that will examine archetypes reflected in traditional stories AND compare them to archetypes in modern short stories.
I'm looking for examples of modern short stories (written at reading levels of grades 5-7) that feature some of the traditional archetypes such as:
hero, villain, damsel in distress, ingenue/innocent, sage, trickster/jokester, mother figure, father figureÂ
Our working definition of 'modern' is anything for this age group published from the 1960s to today.
I know that there are many other types of archetypes, but we're starting with a basic group.
Thanks for any and all ideas!
