Hi Jodie,

I literally just finished reading The Compassionate Achiever: How Helping Others Fuels Success by Christopher L. Kukk, Ph.D. Dr. Kukk is the director of the Kathwari Honors Program at WCSU. He teaches Political Science at WCSU and is a founding director of the Center for Compassion, Creativity, and Innovation. He's an incredibly bright, charismatic person. His book is excellent. Honestly, I never really thought about the difference between empathy and compassion before reading his book. I will use it to help me as both an advisor and teacher/librarian this year. What a world it would be if more of us were "compassionate achievers." I will strive to be a compassionate achiever from this point forward.

Best,
~Valerie

Looking for suggestions on all school reads for staff.  Any suggestions?  Looking for those books that are “must reads” for the 2018-2019 school year.

Possible topics could include leadership, accountability, raising expectations, and/or collaboration.

*I’m at the high school level.

Thank you,
Jodie D’Alexander
