I am def interested in hearing what others have to say about this.  Being relatively new to the field, I am still learning about my role.  I def have been getting familiar with the new AASL standards but I get a sense that each district is doing their own thing.  I know that the elementary librarians in my district (West Hartford) have a scope and sequence that that they have spent a lot of time developing.

As VP of CASL, I am hoping this topic will be popular this coming year and would love to know how CASL can support the librarians in our state on this topic!!

Hi all,

I’ve been noticing that countries like New Zealand, Australia, Finland, etc., all have (seemingly) national documents on school libraries and what they should be/do.

I’m wondering what are your go-to documents for advocacy, competencies, etc. Going to look at what AASL has now, but thought it would be best to hear straight from those in the field. Please email me directly (Linda.Williams@ct.gov) and I will compile if anyone is interested.

Thanks in advance!

Linda
