We are not a google school.  After a suggestion from a colleague from another high school I looked into librarytrac and it has been amazing!  We have set limits for each study hall and the teachers can view an active link on who is in the library.  Also generates all kinds of reports and statistics for you! We crowned our 1000th visitor last week!  :-)

I use one with the addon Choice Eliminator 2 which sets parameters on the number of students who can sign-up from each study hall. When the maximum number of students coming from a particular teacher's study hall has been met that particular choice from the drop-down menu is eliminated.
