I'm late to the party on this thread, but I have more information.  I have had Overdrive for many years.  We set it up years ago so that student IDs and passwords are automatically linked with Overdrive.  No need for any work on my end as far as providing pin numbers or adding freshmen.  Also, we asked for and received a signed student data privace contract from them within a week or so of asking without any problems or issues.  Overdrive is the way to go because of ease of use and it is the same platform as all of our area public libraries.  Also, because you begin the year with a credit, you can add books for students almost instantly. They say 24 hours but I find it only takes half a day for a book to appear in your collection.

Overdrive is the way to go.

I do have another question for the group in regards to audio books.
I still have a number of audio books on CD.  Does anyone know of a way/tool to digitize them and catalog them before weeding them out?

Same here at Bristow regarding Overdrive.  It is really easy to use and integrates with Destiny so the students don't have to access a separate site. The only thing I wish were a little different is that when you buy titles, you don't own them forever and if you were to switch platforms at any point you would lose the ability to access them.

I also purchase audio and e-books from Mackin.  The titles you purchase are in your catalog forever!  I only have a couple e-books and audio so I am still learning the ins and outs but so far I am a fan!!

Does anyone use playaways or the JLG audio level?  The students love them since all they need are earbuds and do not have to worry about internet.  The issue with this format is that they are cost prohibitive.  I am really trying to find a solution to this issue--one thought I had was getting some type of device that I could upload titles to but haven't had time to do any research.  Any suggestions?

Subject: [CASL-L] Audiobooks

Hi everyone,

I am looking for some help with Audiobooks. What is the best application to use? Do you order them through Follett or use something like Overdrive? I am having trouble with Overdrive because I was told they need to sign the student privacy addendum before we can update student names.

Any input would be appreciated!
