With the recent release and success of “The Greatest Showman” many kids have learned that P.T. Barnum AND Tom Thumb were born in CT. Tom Thumb married Lavinia Warren in 1863 at one of the largest social events in 19th century New York City!

Children’s author Betty Raum will be presenting a talk on her new book "The Big, Bold, Adventurous Life of Lavinia Warren" at the Bridgeport Barnum Museum (820 Main St.) this Sunday, November 4, at 2pm.  She will be selling and signing copies of her book. The book is written for grades 4 and above, and celebrates the life and accomplishments of Lavinia Warren, a remarkable woman who never let her height—or the lack of it—prevent her from leading a full and adventurous life. Although she never grew more than three feet tall, she became a beloved teacher, a world traveler, an entertainer and the friend of many powerful figures including President & Mrs. Abraham Lincoln.

Although there is a suggested donation of $5 per adult, it is NOT an admission fee since the Barnum Museum doesn’t  want it to be a deterrent to anyone who is interested in attending the talk.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the museum at (203)331-1104, ext.100 for further details.
