I second using them for Makerspace projects (see pics - one is shown with magazines but certain books have worked). I also let the classroom teachers take discarded books. Lastly, I do donate books that are salvageable to public libraries for book sales.

Hello Nicole!

One way I use weeded books is for makerspace projects--one of my beliefs is that if a book is non-fiction and outdated, or old and worn out, it should just be recycled in some way--not sent to another school or country.

Also, I keep the titles that may still be of interest and let classroom teachers look through them to see if there are any they want to add to their classroom libraries!  Lastly, I keep high interest titles to put out for the book swap I organize:)

Hope this helps!

Hello CASL!

I am hoping you can assist.  I am in the process of weeding my nonfiction collection.  Our district is wondering what others do with their weeded books.  If you recycle/donate what organization(s) do you work with?

Thank you!
Nicole
