We just distributed Chromebooks in December so not much experience here...

We have 1 power strip and 3 spare chargers per teacher if they wish to pick them up. I'm urging them to label them. Many have not picked them up.

I am not loaning any temporary Chromebooks, except in case of repair. I was the one to deliver the hard line message to every class that student were responsible for bringing them to class every day fully charged, and I want to follow through. I also only have one part time staff member who can help with this, and that is when he isn't running around the building doing other matters.

I figure they will only make the mistake once. So far only two students have asked for a loan, and I think word has spread that it's not an option.

I hope I can continue following this precedent (and that I don't get pressured by staff and admin).

We struggle with this issue as well. We have a charging station in the library, but each classroom has four-five AC chargers so that students can plug in their Chromebooks and charge them in class. The cords are a lot cheaper than purchasing charging stations, and this system reduces the number of loaner Chromebooks signed out each day from the library. It's not a perfect system, but it certainly helps.

We need to revisit this issue, especially with SBAC coming up and the need for students to come with charged devices-and are looking for ideas from others.
